No, I guess my previous comment only accounts for some cases. I am observing inconsistent sorting of albums under a certain artist sometimes, so it still appears somewhat unpredictable.

Unless conditions have changed since I posted last, I guess I never took the time to observe this bug closely. It looks like it works 100% of the time if I allow Cog to finish extracting tag data first... (which takes several seconds when I load all 3,500+ tracks at once.)

I guess there's no bug then, I was just being impatient... Silly me. tongue

This problem behaves rather unpredictably... I was going to post more information here, but I realized I didn't have any because it keeps changing! tongue

Mostly the same symptoms every time, just when they show up & when they don't is very erratic.

I noticed that Cog is sorting artist names starting with lower-case letters below those starting with a capital Z.

I can see where this makes sense, but I thought I'd suggest the possibility of sorting lower-case letters immediately below the upper case of the same letter - or perhaps even case-insensitively. smile

Awesome job, Cog developers! Thanks!

I'm delighted with Cog's performance so far on the vast majority of my (16GB) music library! The support for various formats is so complete and robust, it provides a very simple user experience.

I recently procured one album off the iTunes music store in M4A format, however, and Cog could not extract the tag information. It plays spotlessly, but it might be nice to have the complete metadata. smile

Thanks for providing such a nice, simple application!

Good ideas so far - I might add that (however little or much I represent the user base) I feel at home with "The ..." artists sorted under T, since I'm coming in from using Rhythmbox. But it might be a smart thing to change. smile

I have to affirm the sentiments thus far expressed; the simplicity and reliability of Cog is very exciting, and I feel like I've taken a step up from using either Rhythmbox or iTunes (Rhythmbox because of no Mac OS X compatibility, and iTunes because of poor support for my favorite audio formats)! big_smile Bravo, Cog developers! Good show indeed!

(There's even gapless playback between tracks! It's so beautiful!)
