I'm glad you like the new icons! I am aware of the inconsistency although I took a bit of an artistic license with the dots because it just didn't look right under the folded corner and the icons are often too small to really notice that minute detail. Also, I think that it's safe to say most users wouldn't know the difference.

It's broken in VLC too. Of course it still works in iTunes and Front Row though... mad silly Apple going all lock-down-happy.

Apparently the VLC folks have put out a pre-release in which the Remote works. Maybe it'll work in Cog with the latest libraries? (Unless I'm mistaken in thinking that Cog uses the VLC remote libs)

I know the bass clef is supposed to have it but the icon looked kind of .. off... with the colon in there. It felt off balance with the big bass clef taking up most of the left side while there were only two little dots taking up the right..

The PSD sources for the bass clef are gone but I should be able to replicate it fairly easily.

Is Cog bugging out on you? If it's not then I wouldn't worry about the cache directories.

I'm not sure what's supposed to be normal but using the latest nightly I have two directories "07" and "11". Within "07" there's another directory named "07" which has a .cache file in it. The same goes for the "11" directory except that its subdirectory is named "01". When the app isn't running the entire contents of both sub-directories totals out to 8KB.

The link i provided a couple of posts ago is the same psd i used to assemble the icons.

I forgot about the bass clef playlist thing. Want me to go back and change the playlist format icons?

I really like this new UI idea save for two little problems:
- As mentioned above, long track/artist names would mess things up
- The search box is a little small. Maybe put the Shuffle/Repeat buttons on the bottom bar opposite the file/info drawer buttons.

Yeah, probably best to leave it as generic

Rockin'. That file was exactly the one I was missing. It might be best just to put the letters 'VG' in there for video game formats because adding a second graphic, no matter how simple, will be tough to scale down from 128 to 48- and 32px.

I seem to have lost the source PSD for the file icons in a hard drive failure last week. New icons will have to be re-created from scratch to match the originals. It shouldn't be a problem, I should have them done soonish. Is that a complete list of all the new extensions needed? Should I make some new icons while I'm at it for formats to be supported in the near future?

Is anyone else going to get Leopard right away? My Mac qualified for the Up-To-Date program so apparently they're going to ship me a copy asap. Will post my bug reports right away, assuming that there are any 10.5-specific bugs.

If a metadata viewer were to come along, it'd probably come with the ability to edit tags which, unless I'm mistaken, is low on the priority list.

I'd love to have a viewer/editor but I wouldn't expect one anytime soon sad

I know that this has been mentioned before and there was no real consensus on the issue but it's really starting to bug me. The 'random' function is far from perfect. Four times in the last hour I've listened to one track only to have it end and start again. There're no duplicates in the playlist and there're over 50 songs for the function to pick from.

.. it just did it again .. hmm

Maybe, instead of randomly picking the next track when it needs to be picked, we could go the iTunes (and I think Winamp) route by generating a randomzied playlist and then playing through that, re-randomizing it every time the playlist loops.

This is a biggie for me as I have a lot of "liberated" iTunes Store tracks in M4A format. One solution is to convert them all, en masse, to another format like MP3 or OGG with something that can read the M4A metadata but that's a dirty dirty workaround.

Actually, if they're both running then they'll both respond to the keypress. Never even occurred to me to test it with both Cog and iTunes running simultaneously.

Adding the .fla extension could cause a lot of problems considering that .fla is used for Adobe Flash files as well as FLAC files.

You know, Cog is a rather capable player already... Why stick to the 0.0x versioning? 0.07 will be better than a lot of players were at 1.0
