Topic: Cog changes audio device without asking

Sometimes I notice that the audio device usd by cog has changed, even if the prefernces still show the correct one. I simply open the drop down menu and select  again the current device and it works.

At the time being I don't know exactly what triggers the problem.

Leopard, Cog 0.07.

Re: Cog changes audio device without asking

If you could get some reproducible steps, that would help a lot. Cog shouldn't be changing the output device unless the selection has changed in the preferences in the first place...

Re: Cog changes audio device without asking

I noticed it happened while launching Mail, iChat, Adium, Skype and Safari just after the boot process completed, but I was unable to reproduce it by launching the application in a controlled way, one by one.

I forgot to write that the device selected in Cog was NOT the standard output, it was a composite device I created with "Audio MIDI Setup". The device is made of Soundflower2ch and the Standard audio output, joined together.

I also forgot to write that the bug makes Cog switch back to the standard output as defined in the system preferences, even if the cog preferences still show my device as output device.

Re: Cog changes audio device without asking

Thanks. I think Cog will just "fall through" to the default device, if there's a problem opening the selected one. When that happens, it might not update the UI. I'm curious if that happened.

Re: Cog changes audio device without asking

The problem is that when it happens, i get the music about 10 dB louder... :-(
However, I don't know how you could fix it, if there is a problem with the device, switching back to the default is the correct way of working.
