Topic: Gapless playback doesn't work

Hi,

I recently downloaded and tried Cog version 0.07.  I was very excited at first, since your web site lists gapless playback as a feature, and I need this.

However, when I tested it, there was quite an audible click between tracks that should be gapless.  This is a very new MacBook running 10.5.6.

I would be happy to provide you the mp3 files I was using if you would like to test them.  For what it's worth, it was Beethoven's 5th symphony, Vienna Philharmonic, Kleiber conducting.

Otherwise, you have a very nice program -- excellently plain, but fully functional.  If gapless playback worked this would be a winner!

Let me know if there was some way I could help (but I'm not a programmer).  All the best,

                --George R. Welch

Re: Gapless playback doesn't work

mp3 is not a gapless format. There are limitations. There are extensions to make it so, but Cog does not currently support them.

Re: Gapless playback doesn't work

There have been recent improvements in this area. Seeking still destroys gapless playback, but it should work if the proper headers are found in the mp3.
