Topic: mp3 gapless playback

ok
i understand that mp3 is not the best format to collect gapless playback info from
but itunes DOES it perfectly somehow

i know that this question has been already discussed
but it's really important for all of us to have this feature

any comments on when this might be put into practice ?

ps. i would be listening to flac (cog deals with flac's gapless playback perfectly) but then i still would need to convert it into mp3 for my ipod. so i just convert it all into 320 mp3 and 100% of the music that i've got on my computer is in mp3. pitty that cog ignores mp3's gapless playback info. we need it please!

Re: mp3 gapless playback

Try the nightly.

Re: mp3 gapless playback

note: Nightly only works on Mac OS 10.5 Leopard.

Re: mp3 gapless playback

i have downloaded r1912
there is still a gap between songs

Re: mp3 gapless playback

nimionsergei, "gapless" does not mean it will remove silence on start and end of songs, but just that it won't add more of it (that means that if you have a long song split into several files - there should not be any gaps in sound)

Re: mp3 gapless playback

Gapless playback requires a LAME header on the mp3. Otherwise Cog cannot know what parts of the mp3 it's supposed to ignore.
