I know Trac is made specifically for the purpose of bug reporting and feature requests, so obviously it's superior to regular forums for that.
However... I think less computer-savvy people are more intimidated/overwhelmed by something like Trac than good ole' forums.
But I suppose that's what these forums will be for? For more "normal" ( ;p ) people to post their bug reports and feature requests. That way, there is still a place for those who don't know how to/don't want to learn how to use Trac.
I'll try it out a bit later.
Edit:
BTW, can you make the colors a bit... bluer? ;p
Yeah, I know that's a weird request. I dunno... maybe I'm just used to the forums. ;p
If I went with this, the Bug & Feature forums would obviously go away. I too like the informal easy feel of the forums, but it really can be hard to keep track of things. The main thing is that I can't attach a priority to things, so they are all in the same bucket for me, and I end up using personal notes to keep track of things and some stuff ends up falling off the radar (Especially regarding feature requests).
I could make the new ticket feature anonymous, which would bring a lower barrier to entry to filing bug reports, which may help in people seeing things as too scary. I do agree though that the additional form fields could be seen as a bit incomprehensible. I can look into hiding those for the new ticket.
Also. I haven't touched the styles. I was thinking of doing that this weekend if I have some time.
Vspader, I put in a few tickets yesterday pursuant to a few old feature requests of mine. Hope I did things properly.
I love trac
Basically, versions are previously released, milestones have yet to be released.
Uh... so if I think a certain issue should be fixed by 0.08, then I put "0.08" as the Milestone...
...but what do I put as the Version?
"0.07 (r635)"?
Or nothing? I'm guessing you only put Version for bugs? ('cause a bug would apply to such and such version, while feature requests have nothing to do with previously released versions?)
Hey Everybody
My two cents on the new bug/feature-tacker. I think it must be a great tool for vspader (or any other who might contribute) to keep track of all the bugs.
About the forum vs. trac discussion. I think they both serve a purpose. The forum is an easy way to let vspader and ordinary users know about a bug, it can be discussed and then sent over to Trac. Someone said that Trac might confuse new users, and I agree. I have decided not to report bugs, when I faced an unknown reporting system. So let people post to the forum and then we can guide the poster to trac or do it for him/her.
And final note for vspader. When you get the time you should update the bugreportingsticky to the new trac guidelines (and the link links back to sbooth.org).
Cheers
Frederik
I don't know if you can, but you should be able to ammend a comment to clarify something.
Edit: It requires giving the TICKET_ADMIN permission, which I'd rather not give to just the "registered users" group, then anyone could make an account and delete all my tickets!
It might be a good idea to create a moderator group that can have all that stuff.
Edit: Anyone besides remain want to nominate themselves for moderator status?

No thanks, I will just message Remain, that he needs to fix my tickets, should I need it. But if it makes your life easier in any way, put me on the ship, as long as I only need to check for double posts of tickets and correct mispelled word etc.
Oh, great something else to "waste" my time on.
Thanks. Really! More than once I have thought I loved the openness of this app's development.
