Topic: Volume control 0dB (100%) level indication

Thanks for Cog!

Just wanted to ask for what seems to be a very useful feature - a clear 0dB (100%) point on the volume control.

Maybe a "sticky" point that helps place the volume at 100% and visual percentage indicator of the actual volume.

I'm assuming that Cog is amplifying at some point beyond 75% of the volume control setting. Listening to Cog via a DAC I get distortion beyond about 75% - not with VLC at 100% (which has some issues with skipping and not playing certain FLACs.)

This would be a great feature for me at least!

Re: Volume control 0dB (100%) level indication

The visual indicator is something that I think would be a good idea, but there is already a "sticky" point around the 100% mark.

Re: Volume control 0dB (100%) level indication

Ah - I thought there might be a sticky point but I can never quite find it properly ... well, I have no way of confirming it visually so am never 100% (0dB) sure. Thanks for confirming that point though.

Re: Volume control 0dB (100%) level indication

Volume metering is something I find extremely annoying and useless, except in audio editing applications.
If you add it to Cog, please make it as unobtrusive as possible or, better, optional.

Re: Volume control 0dB (100%) level indication

As also "As an Option" im always in preference of. When i hear clipping i like a visual meter to reinforce my suspicions. Granted most ppl wouldn't need such monitoring but it is useful to tho of us who do audio work. Besides ppl who just use cog to play will most likely hide the app in the background so they;d not see the meters haha. All the same an option would be great to have something integrated at the top of the window in Cog...plenty of room for it.

Re: Volume control 0dB (100%) level indication

Had to dig this up as I also could really use a sticky point at 0db.

Another option would be to have a preference of what the max of the volume slider actually represents (-3db, 0db or +10db for instance).

Any chance this is coming soon?

It would be nice to have the option to deactivate the volume control completely. I prefer to do it elsewhere and get the unmodified signal.
