Topic: playing files from more than one server drive

I have a large flac library which is divided between two drives on the network server. I can't find a way of loading from both drives so as to have access to the complete library. I can load from either but not both.
I have tried using shortcuts and other tricks to get around the problem, any suggestions.

Re: playing files from more than one server drive

Just mount both drives...

Re: playing files from more than one server drive

The drives are mounted. The problem is that I have two folders (flac1 & flac2) each contains genre folders. I can open flac 1 but how do I open flac 2 without cog closing flac 1, this is not really a server problem. A large library is likely to originate from more than one source.

Re: playing files from more than one server drive

Are you referring to the the files being displayed in the file tree panel?

You can create a directory with an alias to both locations, or you can (if you're familiar with the terminal) use symlinks. There's no way to make a union of the two.

Edit: To have files from both locations in the playlsit, you can go to File->Add File and navigate to the desired filles you want to add.

Re: playing files from more than one server drive

I've done more tests and established the following.
As you say if an alias directory is made of the two libraries then all is well, however if I use exactly the same procedure across my network it fails'
I have concluded that this occurs because of the differing operating systems used on my local network or the network permissions are incorrect and not a quirk of cog.
thanks for the help
