Re: New Apple Keyboard's Media Keys and Cog
I'm still mourning the loss of the apple key.
The media keys are perfect for global hotkeys. It's just that Apple doesn't seem to want you to. I have a Logitech multimedia keyboard of some kind that has keys for play/pause/stop and all that, but there is not a good way of capturing them to put them to Cog's uses (They inevitably just open iTunes).

I never understood why they didn't just use an apple. "Apple+R to refresh", that type of thing. Not to mention, it's more places where they can stick their logo.

Interesting.
Re: New Apple Keyboard's Media Keys and Cog
when i got my (first) mac last year, it took me a short while to pick up which was the 'command' key and which was the 'option' key, that were always being talked about. the option key on newer macs is marked 'alt'
Re: New Apple Keyboard's Media Keys and Cog
So. Any one remember the difference between the OpenApple key and the ClosedApple key? All I remember is that there were two Apple keys, one was an outline and the other was solid. I can not recall otherwise.
Re: New Apple Keyboard's Media Keys and Cog
I do remember them both being on the Apple IIe, but I don't remember what exactly closed apple was used for. I do seem to remember open apple being used more often (It has a better sound to it too, if you ask me).
Re: New Apple Keyboard's Media Keys and Cog
I think the last Apple made with the closed was the IIgs. Maybe the Lisa?

Very very awesome! I'll look into it! Gives me a good excuse to buy one of those sexy things and try it out

The media keys work perfectly on my wireless (aluminum) kb. No configuration was needed. However, you have to make sure iTunes isn't running, or you'll pause in Cog and start playback in the other (unless that's what you want...).

I don't know if this is a 10.5 thing, or if it's because I do not have the Logitech Control Center installed, but the keys work fine now with my "Logitech Internet Navigator" keyboard.
