Topic: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

Very strange. I'll take a look tonight.

What about the 0.07 stable build? Does that have the same problem?

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

i am not sure, but i would imagine it would. i also tested an earlier 0.08 nightly, and... same deal. but i'll try out the 0.07 stable on my leopard box in a bit anyway, and let you know how it turns out.

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

Alrighty, this should be fixed as of r855.

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

before i pass out for the night, i would just like to notify you that r856 still exhibits the issue we have been discussing.

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

I have both the up and down arrow int he bottom of the scroll bar (works as expected). Maybe Leopard can't decide whether to use the two arrows in the bottom or one in each end, and then makes a poor compromise.

Cheers

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

there's a setting in system preferences (under 'appearance') that lets you choose whether to have the arrows at either end of the bar or both at the same end, so i don't imagine that's the problem.

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

I'm nearly certain that I fixed this last night. I'll take another look tonight. Try clearing your preferences again? Does resizing have any effect?

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

Are you sure you are using r856? I had the problem also, but it's fixed with the new build. Anyone else having this problem still?

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

I am having trouble reproducing this on my machine... Very mysterious indeed. One potential solution, however, would be just to get rid of the horizontal scrollbar in Cog. I already did this in the Spotlight window.

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

I wonder if removing the horizontal scrollbar might cause issues with added columns becoming inaccessible.

I'll take another look tonight...

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

doing that in the latest release absolutely fixed the issue. kudos!

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

Awesome. Also, I think I actually prefer the horizontal scrollbar-free behavior. So hoorah!

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

@vspader: I was dubious, when you wrote you'd do it, but trying it out I think it works like a charm.

It's gonna be exciting to hear Remain's input, he has a scary eye for details, I don't think of.

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

I don't have it in front of me, but I'll give it a shot. It may not be entirely accurate, and if I fail, I can post proper instructions this weekend.

You need to open up MainMenu.nib in interface builder. You're goal is to select the Scroll View that contains the Playlist View. It may be hard to get to, but try clicking on the Playlist View when nothing else is selected. The Inspector should say Scroll View. From there, go to the inspector under attributes and just uncheck the "Scrolls Horizontally" option. Save, and build!

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

Actually yes, you should be able to...no need to recompile!

Re: Noticeable Glitch in Playlist Interface under 0.08 & 0.07 on Leopard

i wanted to follow suit and say that with the horizontal scroll-bar removed, the entire "cog experience" feels so much more cohesive. with that one little ui element removed, the whole functional aesthetic of cog seems much more polished.
