Topic: SUDDEN CRASH

Hi all,

I'm new to Cog. The .06 version was working fine for me for the last couple of weeks. Today it has started closing suddenly shortly after opening - crashing suddenly. I'm using MacBook Pro (intel) computer.
I've tried deleting Cog from Applications and re-installing but with the same result.
The .05 version seems be working fine.
Has anybody else had this trouble?
Any suggestions?
Much appreciated - would like to keep using this great application.

Bintol

Re: SUDDEN CRASH

I have the same problem. I am using a PowerBook G4.

The file I was trying to play was 77 minutes long. Could the length have anything to do with it?

I'm just going to keep using .05 for now.

Re: SUDDEN CRASH

Interesting.
The file length didn't seem to have anything to do with it in my case...
Odd that it would work for a while and then stop. I had not installed any new programs / updates before the problem started...

Re: SUDDEN CRASH

Try deleting the following:

the folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Cog
the file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.vspader.cog.plist

(~ represents the path to your Home folder)

Re: SUDDEN CRASH

If that doesn't work, could you give details of the type of file it was (Flac, mp3, samplerate, bits per sample, etc). Also, a crash log would help too!
Thanks!

Re: SUDDEN CRASH

THANK YOU - DELETING THOSE FILES YOU MENTIONED AND REINSTALLING HAS WORKED

PLEASED TO HAVE IT BACK

Re: SUDDEN CRASH

Glad to hear it.

Re-installing Cog is not necessary at all though.

I mean, the Cog application itself never changes.
So if anything goes awry, it's due to those two items.

~/Library/Application Support/Cog = a folder containing the current Cog playlist

~/Library/Preferences/com.vspader.cog.plist = the current preferences set in Cog

It probably wasn't even necessary to delete both. Deleting the right one would've probably done the trick.

Re: SUDDEN CRASH

Glad it's been fixed! I'm curious what preferences were set that caused this. I'll move this to resolved bugs.

Re: SUDDEN CRASH

I'm having this problem now too... Was working fine for a week or so,
now it closes immediately upon opening. And I never had either of the
mentioned file or folder... Most strange....

Re: SUDDEN CRASH

I had the same problem, and deleting ~/Library/Application Support/Cog helped in my case.

In my case the problem was this: I added some songs to the playlist and then I moved those files to another folder. Next time I started Cog it crashed. So it didn't find those files anymore that were still on the playlist. Could this be it?
