Topic: [Dupe] Play when added

Haven't seen this anywhere, and a quick scan of the wishlist and I couldnt see it,

Basically would be nice that when you drop a music file onto Cog in app bar, or double click (or right --> open with cog), song should maybe start autoplaying?

Gets a tad tiresome having to drop the file, then right click the Cog icon, and hit play.

Hope it gets taken on board, and keep up the great work!!!!

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

You didn't look at the 0.07 list hard enough smile

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

So I didnt.

Sure that wasnt on last time I looked hmm

Any idea's on 0.07 release date (roughly)?

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

Cog 0.06 came out only 3 days ago, you know! ;p

But if you're asking for that feature, then you don't have to wait until 0.07; you just have to wait until it is implemented in the Nightly Builds.

As for when this will be implemented, well, that's up to Vincent. ;p

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

How stable are the nightlies?

just updated to latest ones due to the playlist bug found (was having problems with FLAC on network drives et al)

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

Well, the nightly builds are generally stable, though it's not guaranteed. I have my Cog dock icon pointed to my build directory, so if Cog is broken, I can't even listen to music  (And this is actually the reason most things get implemented tongue).

It only took 14 months for 0.06 to be released...so... I'm shooting for sometime after Leopard is released, and sometime before never.

I don't know when that feature will be added. First on the list is cleaning up the code. I need to touch up the playback system and the file drawer a bit. Next it will be cue sheets and multi-track files. After that, who knows. Probably this, since it is one of the most often requested things. Who knows what I'll actually end up doing though, I tend to get distracted depending on what's being discussed here or what sounds fun at the moment.

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

yep i always run the nightlies, and they're always fine for stability.... except for the rare problem that always gets fixed very soon after it's reported big_smile

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

great Ill stay on the nightlies.

though if i could grab a copy of the Source Code, I could probably make the addition myself wink

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

You any problems with me editing the code to add the play when added functions?

Would you want a copy mailing back to release?

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

I have no problem at all. Email me a patch, and I'll add it to the development version so it will be in 0.07.

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

Great smile

Just grabbed the svn, just gotta grab xcode off ADC. Ill have a poke around and let you know how i fare smile

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

If you have any problems getting things set up or understanding the code, feel free to email me.

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

great. first delve into apple coding (previous c/c++ coder though), so should be a laugh a minute lol.

may get carried away and try to get some of the other wishlists in there too (mainly the "Clear playlist on file load", since thats one I would like too)...

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

Go nuts man. I'd dig into the code more but I'm more of a web dev.. C/C++ and Obj-C just looks like scary voodoo to me more often than not. GUIs are my thing I guess smile

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

lol sam just had a dig around, and Obj-C is a scary voodoo wink

one thing i cant seem to grasp just yet is the Xcode interface, seems a bit foreign to me after many years of m$.

Also, heres one for vspader. If I was to compile it on my "mac", which has a AMD CPU, will it still work UB on intel macs? Or am i best to let you compile it?

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

I have no idea.

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

Ill test compile and email you the dmg then?

saying that, it may not interest you smile

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

You can just send me the patches. I can compile them myself.

Re: [Dupe] Play when added

oh right never mind (methinks we got crossed wires wink )

Ill email you when I got something smile
