In my long, sad absence from the Cog forums, I ended up selling my MacBook Pro to get a shiny new iMac. I can assure you that the media keys work as expected big_smile

Looks like it comes back around to Applescript! Having some applescript hooks sure would open up a lot of possibilities wink

Oh yeah, what kind of release schedule were you thinking about? Quarterly?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe alternate between a release for (primarily) code changes and one for (primarily) interface changes?

In the same vein as the skins thing, I've been really thinking about the fullscreen mode that a few people have been requesting. It stands to reason that many people are going to have many different ideas when it comes to the look of a mini- and a fullscreen player. Maybe we should consider designing them to be skinned interfaces from the get-go, even if the skin selection/generation tools aren't in place until .08 or later. At least then we won't be faced with redesigning the whole shebang again in a year.

wasn't this already in the wishlist?

thanks for the ideas biskitwheels, but this thread is archived. I stuck your thoughts in a new thread in the Features forum.

play a sound then stick the error message where the song title would be? maybe have a bigger text field underneath the title/artist then when Cog encounters an error, clear the current track info and populate the error field.

Otherwise I'd put a short message at the bottom of the playlist where the total duration is, just left aligned. It could even be a alink that, on click, displays a more detailed msg in an alert.

A forum category like closed bug reports but for anything out-of-date. That way threads in Help that have become irrelevant, rejected/duplicate feature requests and old announcements could be moved to an out-of-the-way but still searchable location.

Just looking to keep the boards clean and tidy smile

this should really be a 0.07 thing imo... Saying that Cog supports streaming when it can't handle (or at least present an error message) is a bit misleading.

too cheap to splurge on one of them $0.99 tracks? wink

Go nuts man. I'd dig into the code more but I'm more of a web dev.. C/C++ and Obj-C just looks like scary voodoo to me more often than not. GUIs are my thing I guess smile

Would it be possible to treat these files as playlists? That's sort of how I'd expect one of these files to work. Add a file, Cog sees 8 tracks and adds them.. No fussing about with weird trees and all that.

Would putting the dmgs in a simple tarball or something stop Safari from buggin out? It scares me that this is probably alienating potential users...

That's just some stuff from the source tree... It doesn't affect the functionality at all. Don't worry, your translations are still there wink

You know I kinda like this toolbar idea, although going nuts with it would open a whole can of bugs... If users could pick and choose things like Play/Pause, Next, Prev, 'Track Info' and Volume, it would allow for a great deal of customizability while still keeping the job manageable. I for one would remove all the items but track info because I use keyboard shorcuts for everything.

One thing though: Can you arrange place items above/below other itews in a toolbar? Like the way Volume is right now - below the playback controls, will the toolbar allow someone to position items on there manually?

I'm willing to bend the HIG but making one long titlebar-less window is out of the question.. Too many non-standard controls, text is too small (my vision is fine and I have  hard time reading the time in that screenshot) and the lack of space makes it hard to read the artist/title at a glance - esp with longer names.

If you take a loox at the iTunes controllers for Yahoo! Widgets and Dashboard, that's about the size I'm aiming for.

iTunes breaks the HIGs by not having a titlebar and making it winamp-syle (ie: a single titlebar sized line) would butcher the HIGs.. I'd like to try something different..
