It happens with any non-"regular English characters," it would seem.
At first, I noticed that it would happen with Asian characters, but then I tried it with French characters (accents) and it wouldn't work either.

Try deleting
~/Library/Preferences/org.cogx.cog.plist
That should reset all preferences to default.
I can't reproduce this. How did you make this happen?
Could it be because your system is set in Chinese Simplified?

Well, here's my opinion.
This is gonna sound weird, but I find it too... creative. ;p
As mentioned before, I find the default toolbar buttons should be more standard (and yes, boring if you will) for the sake of:
1) adhering to standards
and
2) comprehensibility by as many users as possible (which partially results from #1)
As Zitz said, if/when a skins system is implemented, we can go wild with the buttons. Shuffle could be a dancing monkey for all I care. ;p
But till then, for the "regular" interface, IMO, we should stick to, well, "regular" buttons.
Hmm... but here's an interesting idea. How about having the toolbar button set be customizable?
I'm guessing a skins system would be fairly complicated, and it would be a while before one will be implemented, if at all.
But being able to change the set of toolbar buttons... this doesn't seem too difficult to implement. (I could be wrong.)
This would allow a fairly good deal of personalization without too much development effort.
And yes, this would allow for more "crazy" toolbar buttons to be made and used. The default toolbar button set would be very standard (and boring) buttons, while alternate button sets would be made (by anyone who wants to do so), and these could be as creative as one wants.
Thoughts?

If you add a multi-track file to the playlist, you'll notice that the metadata will not be displayed in the columns for the last track of the file.
I suspect this is related to the "start multi-track files' Tracks at 1 instead of 0" fix.

Yep, indeed, it's fixed... but now, opening the Spotlight Panel can sometimes crash Cog.
At first, opening the Spotlight Panel would always crash Cog for me.
After deleting prefs, I able to open it without a crash.
But after changing certain things (like changing the search folder), the next launch of Cog, opening the Panel would make it crash again.
And after another little change, the next launch, opening the Panel would not crash anymore. Really random.

There was a fix some time ago where "0" is no longer displayed for Track or Year when there is nothing entered for Track or Year.
But now, multi-track files's tracks start with... nothing, then the 2nd song is track 1, the 3rd is track 2, and so on. XD

Say you sort by Title.
Then you drag any song to another location. (or perhaps, add more songs to the playlist)
Now, the playlist is no longer sorted by Title.
Yet, the "column headers" display that the playlist is still sorted by Title.
My suggestion: when the playlist is changed in any way*, the playlist should return to the "unsorted" state.
*note: Hmm... but perhaps not when removing songs from the playlist?

I noticed that if nothing is selected in the playlist, the next context menu (whether of a song/songs or of "empty space") will display "Untitled" instead of "Add to Queue"/"Remove from Queue."
At first, I thought that was the gist of the bug, but then I realized that the Queue menu item of the context menu seems to be "late" by 1 context menu; it displays what was meant for the last context menu.
e.g.
Song 1 is queued. Song 2 is not queued.
Have nothing selected.
Right-click song 1, you'll see "Untitled" as the first menu item.
Now right-click song 2, you'll see "Remove from Queue" even though song 2 isn't queued. This is in fact the "Remove from Queue" for song 1.
If you right-click song 2 again, it'll now correctly be "Add to Queue."
Similarly:
Have nothing selected.
Right-click song 2, you'll see "Untitled" as the first menu item.
Now right-click song 1, you'll see "Add to Queue" even though song 1 is already queued.
If you right-click song 1 again, it'll now correctly be "Remove from Queue."

Those buttons are using the glossy/"glass button" look that Leopard has ditched though.
In Leopard, the button style has become light grayish buttons with a gradient but that are not glossy.
examples: the Finder, Safari, iTunes... most apps, actually, except those that use the "pellet"-type button (e.g., Mail, Preview)
But I've been thinking... what's wrong with the current set of toolbar buttons?
This may be because I've gotten used to them, but honestly, they look fine to me.
They use the Leopard button style. Check.
And sure, they're nothing amazing, but how amazing can you make the play symbol? Or the pause symbol? Or the rewind/fast forward symbols?
The only issue could be the File Tree button, which indeed does not fit with the new button style. Other than that, I don't really see a need to replace the current ones.
So my thoughts: keep the current buttons (except File Tree), and just add the new ones.
As for the Shuffle button...
I would normally agree with the suggestion of using a "lit up"/colored version of the Shuffle button for "on."
However, since there are many Repeat modes (not just on/off), the Repeat button does not light up; instead, the button image changes to represent the current mode.
So to be consistent with that, I think the Shuffle button should also change the image to the current mode. The easiest way would obviously to have the bars be in a random order instead of being placed from the shortest to the longest.

This has been changed in the 0.08 nightlies, but I'm guessing you're on Tiger?
This probably should be one of the changes that ought to be included in the "revised" version of 0.07, seeing as it's a very easy and small change, and 0.07 is after all the last version that can be run on Tiger.
