when I drag files/folders to the playlist window cog frequently records at least one track duration incorrectly. its usually out by a long way ie. 1h 6m instead of 34 mins.
This only occures whene I load m4a files made in nero aac codec.
All my flac files load ok.

Re: r903 won't remember position of sidepanel (4 replies, posted in Bugs)
The mp3 files which will not play gaplessly in cog will play without a gap in any other player ie itunes Play winamp foobar vuplayer. All other formats play ok its just mp3.
The mp3 files have been made in the latest lame codec.

Every time I open r903 build I have to reposition the side panel, this was not the case with r902 which remembered my chosen layout.
Also it is still not possible to play mp3 files gaplessly, a small but very annoying gap occurs.

My Mistake, I'm so stupid that I did not realize that the sidebar is now part of the main window. I can confirm that it works just fine and is a very definite improvement.

The Latest build fails to work in that the sidebar will no open so the only way to access files is to use the finder.

I just tried the latest build but unfortunately it still does not respond to the Clear Playlist preference command.

I just noticed with the latest build that the playlist clear and auto play choices in preferences no longer work.

Re: playing files from more than one server drive (4 replies, posted in Help)
I've done more tests and established the following.
As you say if an alias directory is made of the two libraries then all is well, however if I use exactly the same procedure across my network it fails'
I have concluded that this occurs because of the differing operating systems used on my local network or the network permissions are incorrect and not a quirk of cog.
thanks for the help

Re: playing files from more than one server drive (4 replies, posted in Help)
The drives are mounted. The problem is that I have two folders (flac1 & flac2) each contains genre folders. I can open flac 1 but how do I open flac 2 without cog closing flac 1, this is not really a server problem. A large library is likely to originate from more than one source.

I have a large flac library which is divided between two drives on the network server. I can't find a way of loading from both drives so as to have access to the complete library. I can load from either but not both.
I have tried using shortcuts and other tricks to get around the problem, any suggestions.

Topic: Shuffle Play (5 replies, posted in Bugs)
When I ask cog to play in shuffle mode it always starts with track no. 1 and then plays a number of other tracks but never completes the album, it just stops after playing say 5 tracks of a 12 track album.
This is the case whether the album is dragged to the playlist or entered on a double click or whether shuffle is activated before or after the album has been chosen.

Re: mp3 play distortion (4 replies, posted in Bugs)
The cog gain is set to its normal position ie in its indent
When I playback the test tone using any other format like flac or mpc the output sound only goes into overload distortion as the indent position is passed, However when an mp3 file is played the distortion I identified does not reduce as the slider is lowered, it only gets even more distorted as the indent is passed going up.
The files do not have replay gain.

I have used cog for about 12 months and like it. I always use the development build.
Since I started playing mp3 files a few weeks ago I noticed that they sound distorted on my applemac.
I have established that a 1k 0dB tone needs to be reduced by at least 3dB before encoding to cure this problem. without this scale factor serious distortion occurs.
This overload distortion does not occur with any other lossy format ie. ogg/mpc/m4a The type of encoder is also irrelevant as the distortion occurs with either itunes or lame coders. Also the files that play distorted in cog play ok in all other players.
