Hey Jack
Yep Cog is a fine lightweight music player, that supports a lot of different musicformats. Most notably Flac, that is not supported by iTunes.
Welcome to the forums. People here can help you with anything
Cheers

OK, thanks, so if I rip flac files with Cog I can't play in itunes? Right? So, I'll use Cog. Would you say the rip is audiophile grade? Ofcourse I'm not an audiophile but would like to have the best quality. jj
Cog is a pure audio player, as in it only plays audio.
So Cog does not rip or convert, unfortunately.
However, if you're looking to convert from FLAC to MP3 or to another format, you can try Stephen Booth's Max.
thank you, I'll do that. Looking forward to the experience. I'm going to try a rip with max and play back with cog. I will report to the forum.
Um... but you can play FLAC files with Cog.
Cog supports:
* AAC
* AIFF
* Apple Lossless
* FLAC
* Monkey's Audio
* MP3
* MPC
* OGG
* SHN
* WavPack
* WAV
* video game music formats (NSF, GBS, GYM, SPC, VGM, HES, and others)
* tracker formats (IT, S3M, XM, MOD)
* cue sheet
It's only if you want to play the FLAC files in iTunes (or other players that do not support FLAC) that you would need to convert the FLACs to MP3 in Max and then play in iTunes.
Otherwise, you can just play the FLACs directly in Cog.
Max can rip and convert. Cog plays. I understood before. What are you saying?
Well, if you already have FLAC files, you can play them in Cog. No conversion needed.
But if you have the music on a CD, then yes, you would use Max to rip the songs from the CD and make files with them.
Then you can play those files in Cog/iTunes/any player.
Maybe I misunderstood your previous posts.
That's ok. I'll give it a whirl. Thanks jj
