Tabbed Playlists, please.

Hey, great work with Cog. If there is one thing I like it is a simple, lightweight media player.. and cog meets that description very well. Since moving to OS X i had been relegated to using iTunes until I found Cog.

i think it would be great if there were support for tabbed playlists.

It was discussed here, and requested again here back in november.

So yeah, another vote for Tabbed playlists please. I think it would be well received by a lot of users.

First of all I'd like to commend Cog for treating playlists correctly. Unlike VLC, or most of the other ones (never tried iTunes, don't want to either), the playlists are in the exact order moved from where the music resides.

But, I would like to see automatic deletion of the playlist, unless of course you save it. So that everytime COG is [re]started, the playlist from the previous session will not be there. You could make this a preference thing.

Overvolume with MacBook two finger scroll

If I hover over the volume control and use a two finger drag operation on the macbook's pad to adjust the volume, it is possible to take it over 100% volume. I don't have a mouse here to see if the same happens with a scroll-wheel mouse.

Fans of Spinal tap may appreciate the feature, but it crashes Cog.

Hi,

Another guy here who registered just to say a big thankyou to anyone who contributed to this excellent free software. I wasn't expecting much when I saw the simplistic interface, but it hides a well written, user friendly piece of software that does exactly what it says on the tin!

Now I can escape iTunes and play my flacs in peace.

Cog cannot work with a cue which contains chinese or japanese char

I have some cue files contain chinese or japanese characters, and it shows a mess on the GUI after I try to open them with Cog and cannot play at all..

But I removed all these character, then the app works fine..

I have a bunch of such cue files.. So please help me .. Thx a lot ..

how to build non-logging version of nightly?

I'm using the latest Nightly build (cog 0.08 r1934) because it fixes a bug I was experiencing. But it writes to the log a lot. I can't find the NSLog / printf calls responsible for this, so I assume they are in frameworks where I can't see the code. Is there any way to solve this or do I just have to wait for a later build that removes the logging? Thx.

Forum talk's been rather slow lately.
And also, there are some people who have registered but haven't posted yet.

But then again, some people don't post unless they have some requests, problems, or bugs to report.
As such, there are many Cog users (I assume) who never post or show up at the forums at all.

So here's a thread for people who just want to drop by and say, "I am a Cog user!"

note: Please avoid making feature requests here; use the Features forum for that purpose.

Shortcut for Repeat

Hey there, why isn't cmd+opt+r switching the repeat to "repeat one" ? It switches to "repeat all", "don't repeat" and that's it.. I'm using the nightly build.

Strange drag/drop behavior from iTunes to Cog

For quite a while I've been enjoying the use of iTunes and Cog together using iTunes for my main output and Cog with an iMic for preview. And I especially like how tracks can be dragged back and forth between iTunes and Cog.

Recently, I downloaded (legally, from emusic) some songs that can't be dragged from iTunes to Cog. When I try, Cog doesn't recognize them, or indicate that anything happened --- they just don't show up in the playlist. The songs don't seem different in any significant way from ones that can be dragged over. When I was trying to figure out what the problem might be, I noticed that the songs can be dragged to Cog from the Finder, they appear in the playlist, and they can be played.

System info:

3-year-old MBP
OS X 10.5.8
Cog 0.08 (r1934)
iTunes 9.2.1

Column for 'Composer'

I have been testing yours along with Foobar (both on Bootcamp and Wine), Vox, and Play for several weeks, and am amazed with how Cog makes use of memory elegantly.
Is it possible to ask for a column displaying the Composer of songs?
It will be much appreciated if Cog could retrieve the value both from 'Composer' in mp3, m4a etc. and 'Songwriter' in .cue sheets.

Set an amount of silence between each track

Hi !!

It will be cool if there was a way for adding some ms of silence between each track!

Some may call me crazy but here is why!!

Im listening to many sample packs very ofter and the most samples are very short ... just a few milliseconds ....

so when i hit play im hearing a flood of sounds trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ... you know what i mean!

if im listening to a pack of bass drums is like listening an unstoppable shotgun and there is no way to say which bassdrum is the one is playing!

Some simple visualizations would be a nice feature
Like simple VU-meter, spectrum analyzer

These could be put in the main window, or in a drawer, like the filebrowser

Cog is a really smooth app for OS X, and I love it...

But how about some type of EQ?

I, for one, really enjoy having the ability to tweak an EQ to obtain my desired sound signature.

Sure, ToolPlayer has EQ, but it has its own set of issues. Cog is sooo close.

Any thoughts?

Waveform seek bar

I may asking too much but it would be great if there was a waveform seek bar!

that way it will be possible to view were is the "break" of a song or where new parts introduced and move there instantly !!!

File actions

Hi!
It would be nice if we had "file actions" available in the track's left click menu like rename, copy to, move to, delete!!

Lets say im loading some files and start listening..
i need to rename the third file, need to move the fifth, delete the sixth and copy the ninth to an other folder!

now i need to show each file in finder and do the thing, so there are way more clicks to do something simple!
